Today I'm sharing my chocolate chip cookie recipe, another classic in the cookie world.
I developed this recipe in the second year of this project. The original recipe isn't mine, it comes from the culinary school where I trained. The first few times I tried it at home it didn't turn out the way I wanted, so, using it as a base, I kept tweaking it until it became what it is now. In my opinion it's one of the best cookie recipes, and you can use it as a base for other flavors.
This dough is perfect to keep in the freezer and bake when a craving hits or an unexpected guest drops by. If you like it and make it, don't forget to share it with me on Instagram.
Ingredients
- 280 g all-purpose flour (0000)
- 2 g baking soda
- 2 g baking powder
- 100 g butter
- 3 g fine salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 160 g chocolate chips or chopped chocolate pieces
- 80 g white sugar
- 90 g powdered sugar
- 2 g cinnamon
- 1 egg
Metric measurements: a kitchen scale gives the best results.
Method
To start this cookie recipe, put the softened butter and both types of sugar in a large bowl and beat until creamy. Then add the vanilla and the egg. If you'd like to add another flavor, such as citrus zest, now is the time.
Next, sift the dry ingredients so no lumps form in the dough. Once sifted, add them to the previous mixture and mix until you have a smooth dough.
Finally, add the chocolate chips to the dough and make sure they are well distributed so every cookie has pieces of chocolate. Once the dough is ready, wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
About 10 minutes before taking the dough out of the fridge, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Take the dough out of the fridge and roll it out to 1 cm thick. Then cut with a 6 cm round cutter. Place the cookies on a greased baking sheet.
Bake the cookies for 12 minutes. After baking, let them cool before taking them off the sheet.
Tip: If you have leftover dough, you can keep it wrapped in plastic in the freezer and take it out on a day when you need something delicious.
Now enjoy!
